CHE Eyewear

I had the great pleasure last week of meeting the lovely Rose, who is part owner with her husband, of CHE Eyewear. CHE Eyewear is the exquisite Melbourne boutique eyewear specialists in contemporary and authentic vintage (circa 1940s - 1980s) frames.

Providing frames for everyday and prescription wear, seriously this store has the most amazingly unique range of frames that I have ever come across. Being in the business for 25 years, CHE Eyewear have definitely found their niche in the market, offering both optical consultations (bulk billed eye tests) and an extensive range of frames

Rose has done a beautiful job in the store display. The below pictures will speak louder than my words.

Here is Rose loving what she does week in week out.

Rose delightfully told me that the inspiration for the decor of the store was based on the impeccable style of her Aunt. Old photos of her Aunt are displayed throughout the store and you can see that this woman definitely had fine taste.

And then it was time for playing dress ups. Rose and I started to walk around the store picking out frames that had an amazing look and feel to them. I tried each and every pair on that Rose picked out, just to get a small glimpse of what it felt like to be in that timeless, classic and sophisticated sense of style. Fabulous feeling. I was in love with every frame that I tried on.

Left to Right - 1960s Safilo, Paloma Picasso,
1960s Martin Wells, Paloma Picasso

Left to Right - 1980s Vienna Line (sister to Dior), Paloma Picasso,
1980s Playboy, Jono Hennessy

Left to Right - 1980s YSL, 1960s French and 1980s Sapphires

So if you wear glasses of any sort and want to make a point of difference in your sense of style, then CHE Eyewear is definitely the place to visit. What I also loved about this store is that their stock is new-old, meaning most of the frames have never been worn and still have their original tags on them. All frames, as you can see, are in immaculate condition.

One of my most favourite boutique stores in Melbourne to date.

I came to check out your post on Fashionopolis and got completely bewitched by all the glasses and sunnies! I want some now! (No Laura... you're meant to be saving, remember?)

Laura - hahaha! Yes, these glasses and sunnies are amazing. I wanted each and every pair myself. But I too am saving. Maybe those savings could go to a very cool set of vintage frames ;)
